After two years of listening to nothing but records from like ‘96 there’s been a recent surge of independent music that I can’t stop listening to! By now you know about my love affair with Goodfinger, and I’m also feelin The Cool Kids, Chris Cornell’s solo stuff and Timbaland keeps proving that he could make even my ass sound like the Brodsky Quartet.

So this group from LA called The Bird and The Bee is the most recent act to sting me (I couldn’t resist the pun). On “Fcking Boyfriend” lead singer Inara George coos a bit like Imogen Jennifer Jane Heap (we call her iHeap) while producer Greg Kurstin sets the semi-party groove. On “I’m a Brokenheart” the pair find their pace with big gooey horns and a waltzy drum beat.
