Drink and Be Merry: A Guide to Liquors, Wines, and Beers Worth Trying
Drink and Be Merry: A Guide to Liquors, Wines, and Beers Worth Trying
(and how much they cost and where you can find them)
Francis Coppola Presents: Rosso Classic
For fans of Zinfadels, Syrahs, and Cabrenets, this wine is one of the best blends of all three. I have never been let down by any of the wines from the Francis Coppola label. Recommended by the Food Network and the Pittsburgh Tribune, it has a very sweet taste but it is also very gentle for a red wine. This wine is definetly good for everyday drinking, however, not a wine you should chug. On a scale of 1 to 100 juicy grapes, I’ll give this one 92 of them! You can find this wine at any liquor store with an extensive wine selection, but we bought it at WalMart for $8.99. What a steal!
Queen Of Hearts Pinot Noir 2004
This is by far, the best Pinot Noir I’ve ever tried. I saw it in Whole Foods and being a fan of card playing, I had to grab it solely based on the label. Yeah, I buy into that whole product placement jive. It’s a medium red, but it is quite fruity. The flavors of the wine include black cherry and raspberry and even have a hint of cola to it. After one glass of this wine, seeing as the alcohol percentage is 14.2 per volume, you’ll know exactly what a great pinot noir should taste like. You can order it online (www.queenofheartswines.com) or find it at Whole Foods for $12. We give it 98 juicy grapes.
Vampire Merlot
After discovering this wine at World Market, again, bought solely based on its appeal on the outside, I’ve decided that this is one of my favorite merlots. A steal at $9.99, Vampire also makes a Pinot Noir, Pinot Griggio and a Vodka! (Which I can’t wait to try!) Its dark plum flavor and color are also part of its appeal. It has a hint of vanilla as well to give a smooth taste. I’ve only seen this brand out around Halloween, but you can order it online (vampire.com) or check for it at World Market around October. I would give this wine 90 juicy grapes.
