It's a hot Tuesday night in Atlanta. In the depths of the Apache Cafe, DJ Scizzahands is on the decks and Dres tha Beatnik has command of the mic. In spots like Apache, DJs battle with their fingers, B-boys and B-girls show their moves on the floor, and MCs throw their battle hymns in the air. This year's A3C Independent Hip Hop Festival was no different.

Detriot's Thunderbirds are Now! play the Drunken Unicorn tomorrow night in support of Oxford Collapse at the MJQ underbelly (better known as the Drunken Unicorn). With an album MAKE HISTORY out now on Frenchkiss Records, their fusion of quirky synth leads, poppy guitar riffs with the vocals of lead guitarist/vocalist Ryan Allen makes for pleasantly palatable party pop (possibly?).
