Free Download: Planet or Moon
For a recent design, I needed a graphic of a planet. The project was for my other company “Sphere of Sound” [link] which offers post-production, mixing and sound design for film and TV. I needed something eye catching, yet sleek and professional, with an emphasis on the ’sphere’ part of the title. I wanted that to convey a certain sense of sci-fi surrealness as sound design is very creative and esoteric work. When people see my work I want them to think of the same high fidelity audio they would expect when they see a Dolby, THX or HD-DVD logo. This was the final resulting design…
My thoughts: The “sphere” is rugged and terrestrial while the “of sound” is bold, polished and sleek. Thus, the logo is dynamic while remaining creative and conveying professionalism.
As you can see the planet is prominently featured along with text that looks as if it were protruding from the side. In a future tutorial I’ll show you how to create a similar effect but for now here is a link to a PSD file of the planet pictured below which I made in Photoshop CS3.
