  • Tags That Think

Last night I installed and started testing Jiglu, a plug-in that offers ‘intelligent and automatic tagging for your blog.’ Which means it parses your blog’s data looking for relevant keywords , dates, people and places. Then using the list it builds, it optimizes and organizes that information. The link above shows a Jiglu tag-map which sizes tags by the number of times they’re mentioned on this blog. Jiglu then goes a step further by offering ‘Spaces’ an area somewhat reminiscent of MyBlogLog where you build a community around your blog where people can come discuss topics, find your RSS feed and view other members.

While Jiglu doesn’t do anything we haven’t seen before it does wrap everything up in a neat package making it all one lightweight tool. Afterall, what blog service doesn’t already offer easy tagging? One of the cooler features of Jiglu is that it will hunt down names and dates to build a list of the people and events that it thinks are important.

One funny little bit of info, if you visit the Jiglu blog over at http://blog.jiglu.com/ you’ll notice that they aren’t even using their own product which highlights Jiglu’s biggest failure. It’s moderately useful but far from a necessity.
